My Mother

I have a friend who is kind,
She works as a nurse.
I have a friend who keeps my secrets,
She works as a guardian;
That friend is my mother.

She teaches me to be respectful,
She advises me to be good,
She teaches me to love God
And my elderly ones too.
Yet she remains my mother.
She scolds me when I'm rude,
She tweaks me when I'm sstubborn,
And she pets me when required.
Just like a disciplinarian,
That is who my mother is.

Some call her mumsie,
Some say mummy,
Others just say mum.
As for me, if heaven falls,
My mother remains my mother
Not an Egyptian mummy!
